The Chicago Police Department has a unique opportunity for citizens to learn important strategies for a safer community and an opportunity to discover the day to day operations of the police department.  The object of the program is to give attendees a better understanding of police operations and community relations and how they work together to achieve a stronger and safer community. The training for this initiative will be 10 weeks long and will be held on the 2nd floor, North Atrium of the Education and Training Division located at 1300 W. Jackson Blvd. The training will be held on Tuesday evening of each weekfrom 09 April 2019 through 11 June 2019 from 1800 to 2100 hours. There is a graduation ceremony on the last day of training, Tuesday, 11 June 2019.

The requirement for the participants of the Citizen’s Police Academy as follows:

  • 21 or older
  • Live or work in the city
  • No prior felony
  • No pending court cases
  • Must be approved by District Commander

There will be 10 sessions, 3 hours each.  The last week (week 10) will be graduation.  All participants that complete a minimum of 7 weeks will receive a certificate of completion.  All applications must be forward to the Community Policing Sergeant at 20th District along with a photo copy of the applicants Driver License or State Id to:   no Later than Monday, 25 March 2019.
