February 17, Sunday 4: PM – 6: PM

Location: Lincoln Square Presbyterian Church Community Space, 4639 N. Rockwell St.

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Steve James (Hoop Dreams, Life Itself) examines racial, economic and class issues in contemporary American education in the multi-part unscripted documentary series America to Me. This series spends an academic year at Chicagoland’s Oak Park and River Forest High School. Reflecting on Langston Hughes’s prophetic poem, “Let America Be America Again,” America to Me looks at the complexities of race, identity, privilege, and education through the eyes of a diverse group of young people. Join us as we watch and discuss one of the America to Me episodes.
